Cheryl’s comeback single sells just ‘5000 copies’ following heavily criticised X Factor performance

Cheryl’s comeback single has reportedly sold just “5000 copies” following her heavily criticised X Factor performance.

Last week, the mother-of-one told The Guardian that if her comeback single, ‘Love Made Me Do It’, didn’t reach the top 80 in the charts, she would “move on” from music.

According to The Sun, the single has dropped to No.48 in the charts, after coming in at just No.19 when it was first released.

The 35-year-old’s single has been played 460,000 time on Spotify this week, in comparison to the top 20 singles on the streaming platform right now, which have all been played at least 1.3 million times this week.

“It’s dropping down the rankings fast this week despite it being her big comeback. It could easily end up falling further by the time the final charts are unveiled on Friday,” a source revealed.

The news comes after Cheryl released a statement regarding the huge backlash she received for her X Factor performance, in which she said: “This level of relentless abuse should not be tolerated in any walk of life…Ps… I did watch my performance back and I LOVED IT!”
