Bob Geldof has retired from making music as 'no one is interested' in new record

Bob Geldof has revealed that he’s given up trying to make new music with the Boomtown Rats.

The Dublin singer admits the group had been planning on going and recording a new album.

But Bob, 62, ended up deciding there was no point as “no one is interested” and “no one would buy it”.

“We were considering going back into studio but no one is interested and it’s not going to get played,” he added.

“Also, who would buy it? If the Stones do a new album, who would care? And that’s the Rolling Stones.

“If Oasis did a new album, meh. I love the new Arctic Monkeys album – that’s the fifth record – that’s very unusual.”

And Bob revealed that fans have missed out on a dance album from them – as that’s what they were planning.

“If we continued non-stop, that’s what we’d have been doing. The stuff we did was the dance beat of the late 70s,” he told Eagle Radio.

“That’s what it was. It was rhythm and blues pumped up on steroids. And had we been continuing, that’s what we would have done – there’s no question of it.
