Ariana Grande breaks YouTube record with thank u, next music video

Ariana Grande has broken a YouTube record with her ‘thank u, next’ music video.

The singer finally released the highly-anticipated video on Friday and fans were clearly not disappointed, as it broke viewing records within 24 hours.

The video got so many views in such a short space of time that the comments section froze and there was a delay for any users who wanted to leave a comment on the video.

Ariana smashed the record of the amount of views a video received within 24 hours of it being put up and even set the record with over two hours to spare.

According to Variety the video received over 46 million views within 22 hours.

516,000 chat messages on YouTube were sent, as fans spoke about the video with each other and chose their favourite moments from the music video.

Ariana paid homage to iconic films such as Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30, Clueless and Bring It On in the video and even had surprise guests from stars such as Kris Jenner and Troye Sivan.
