“I wanted to see what people thought. Everyone was so positive, saying, ‘Oh my God, that would be such an amazing thing’,” he told the Irish Sun.

“They’re all the same fans really. I love Westlife, I love Boyzone, so we’re good to go in that respect.”

“But when it comes to music, who is taking over the world? The Americans. Why are they taking over the world? Because they are collaborating,” he said.

“You have people like Nicki Minaj collaborating with Justin Bieber. It’s the same with heavy hip-hop artists collaborating with pop artists.

“That’s why they’re taking over the world. We need to take a leaf out of their book,” he explained.

“If you want to rule in music, you need to collaborate and come together — be it Boyzone and Westlife, be it U2 and Westlife, be it Boyzone and The Cranberries.”
