HE’s taken the next step in his relationship, and is currently living with girlfriend Aoibhinn Nà Ahúilleabháin, but Ryan Tubridy is still being asked out by the ladies.
While it wasn’t a regular chat up line, Philomena Lee, the inspiration behind the film Philomena, asked Ryan to be her date to next month’s Oscars ceremony.
Philomena, who is played by Judi Dench in the Oscar nominated movie, asked Ryan if he would join her after being interviewed on the Late Late Show last weekend.
‘I thought Philomena Lee was lovely on Friday night. She gave a very elegant account of herself, she was great company. I promised I’d fix her a gin and tonic after the show, so we had a jar after the show and a chat.
‘We took a few pictures and she said she’s going to Hollywood for The Oscars, she even offered to bring me. So if I’m not here during The Oscars season you know where I’ll be. I’ll be over hanging out with Philomena doing The Oscars thing.
We’re sure TV presenter girlfriend Aoibhinn would let Tubs make the journey to LA, but if Philomena is looking for ways to persuade Ryan to join her, she should offer him some jellies. The presenter told The Diary that of all the presents he’s received over the years from fans, his favourite gifts are sweets.
‘I just love sweets, that’s the best thing I’ve ever got.’
