Reese Witherspoon has confirmed that Legally Blonde 3 is happening!
The actress took to her Instagram to announce the news. She posted a video of herself in a pink bikini, floating on a lilo to break the exciting news.
The video was simply captioned, “It’s true… #LegallyBlonde3”
It has been 15 years since Elle Woods has graced the big screen, with fans patiently waiting for a third instalment.
Speculation has been going on over the past year that Reese would be returning to her iconic role, however nothing was confirmed until today!
It’s expected that she will create the film with her production company Hello Sunshine, who are responsible for Gone Girl and Big Little Lies.
The much-loved film has become a cult classic since its release in 2001.
Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, the scriptwriters who adapted the first film from the Amanda brown novel, are supposedly set to write the script for the third instalment. It has yet to be confirmed which, if any, members of the original cast will return to reprise their roles.
Reese was recently on The Late Late Show with James Corden, and when she was quizzed about a third Legally Blonde film said, “Yeah, yeah I would [do it]! I think it’d be kind of cool to see her 15 years later, like what’s she doing now? What do you think? I don’t know. But I need a good idea.”
