Hollywood director JJ Abrams is bringing the Star Wars set to Ireland, with scenes to be filmed in Kerry.
The famous sci-fi movie will be filming the newest installment of the franchise on Skellig Michael towards the end of August.
Production has already begin in Abu Dhabi and Iceland, but Kerry is the next stop.

Local newspaper Kerry’s Eye reports that The Office of Public Works confirmed the news.
“Skellig Michael is being made available for a film production shoot on the island.”
“This production is being fully supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and the Irish Film Board”

According to reports Skellig Michael will be closed to visitors for three days at the end of August to facilitate filming.
The highly anticipated film stars Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson as well as Harrison Ford and is due out next year.
