New Love/Hate heart-throb Johnny Ward promotes mental health – with new movie competition

He’s busy making out with Siobhan and aggravating Nidge on Love/Hate but in real life Paulie aka Johnny Ward is a do gooder.

The Dublin actor helped launch short film competition Frame Of Mind – in association with St Patrick’s Mental Health Services.

Johnny urged people to get involved in the competition which aims to create mental health awareness.

Launching the film competition, Love/Hate star Johnny said: “I’m delighted to be involved with this project given the extent of mental health difficulties in this country.

“It’s more important now than ever to start the conversation and promote the message of recovery ”

Aspiring film-makers are asked to create a short-film between two to three minutes long that they believe exemplifies the importance of positive mental health.

The competition is open to everyone over 18 years of age and provides an opportunity to showcase their film-making talents by creating an original and brave ‘short’.

To enter the competition email the concept of your short-film, in no more than 800 words with a working title to [email protected] .

Concepts must be emailed by Friday 31st October, 2014.

An awards ceremony will be held in St Patrick’s University Hospital on December 9th where 10 of the short-listed films will be shown.

Johnny himself will present the winner with €1,000, the first runner with €500 and the second runner up with €300.
