Michael Fassbender worked as a BAR MAN in between making movies

Hollywood star Michael Fassbender has revealed he used to work as a bar man in between acting jobs.

The Kerry actor, who received an Oscar nomination for his role in 12 Years A Slave, had to work several jobs to make ends meet.

After landing his first big role on Sky’s Band of Brothers, Michael said work was still hard to get.

“After Band of Brothers it was very sporadically working. After six months I’d get a gig and then another six months later I’d get two days on a TV thing.”

“It kind of went like that for about five years. I was working in and out behind the bar and various different jobs,” he explained.

But it was only a few years until Michael was finally able to focus on acting full time and give up his part time jobs.

“Then when I was about 27 I remember I didn’t have to do either jobs to make a living. That was a turning point. I kept saying to myself ‘I’m good enough to be working.’.”

“Then since 30, the last seven years have been incredible,” he said.

Despite being apart of hugely successful films including X-Men and 12 Years A Slave, Michael says he isn’t interested in movies doing well.

“For me I never get stifled over the fact ‘is this going to be a success?’ I want to learn, take risks, do things that excite me and hopefully people find them interesting stories.”

“But I’m not going to get stifled by the fear of things not working. Once I make a choice that’s it, there’s no regrets,” he explained.
