Liam Neeson gives up drinking Guinness over fears it'll make him too FAT

Liam Neeson has admitted he’s given up drinking Guinness over fears of putting on weight.

The Hollywood actor had issues with booze after the death of his wife Natasha Richardson – but won’t give up alcohol totally.

He said: “I was never into spirits or liquor, hard liquor. And I gave up the Guinness years ago, because past an age, it sticks to you, you know?”

Following a motorcycle crash in 2000, the 62-year-old had an addiction to morphine – and believes his drug and alcohol struggles give insight into his roles.

They especially include his role as troubled cop and recovering alcoholic Matt Scudder in A Walk Among The Tombstones.

He added: “Those guys, you know, they wake up in the morning, and they have to think of a reason to get up.

“And then once they’re up to not have a drink. All these little heroic battles they have, they fight with and against every day of their lives.”

In 2012, fans feared he was drunk during an appearance on the 50th anniversary of The Late Late Show but his reps denied it.
