Ewan McGregor is set to star in a sequel for The Shining.

The classic film, which was made in 1980, is based on the best-selling horror novel by Stephen King.

The sequel is called ‘Doctor Sleep’, and according to Variety, the Scottish actor will be taking on the role of Danny Torrance.

In the first film, Danny is the child of Jack Torrance, who goes on a murderous rampage.

The sequel will centre around Jack all grown up following his horrifying ordeal at the Overhook Hotel, 38 years ago.

The Shining has become a cult classic since its release, and has become the nightmare of many due to its memorable scenes – such as the creepy twins, and the famous ‘Here’s Johnny’ scene, in which Jack hacks away at the door his wife Wendy is hiding behind.

Since its release, the film has made over $700 million worldwide.

The film is set for release in 2020 and will no doubt be just as horrifying as the original.
