Actors Sam Keeley and Aisling Franciosi named 'Stars of Tomorrow' by Screen International

Two up and coming Irish actors have been chosen as the Stars of Tomorrow for Screen International.

Sam Keeley, who is best known for his roles in RTE series Raw and Lenny Abrahamson’s What Richard Did, was chosen by the international publication.

Irish actress Aisling Franciosi also got the prestigious recognition. The Dublin-born star appeared in TV series The Fall, and recently starred in Ken Loach’s latest film Jimmy’s Hall.

Major stars who were previously named as the Stars of Tomorrow include Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson and James McAvoy.

Screen International Editor Fionnuala Halligan picks the stars after considering hundreds of names each year. “Opening Stars of Tomorrow out to include talent from the republic of Ireland and young heads of department has been tremendously exciting,” she said.

“But now more than ever the pressure is on with the number of places. I’ve had my eye on Sam and Aisling for a while, particularly with Sam whom I noted in his debut ‘The Other Side of Sleep’ some years ago.

“It’s no surprise to me how his career is powering on and there is great excitement in the industry about his Monsters role. I’ve seen some footage and it is definitely his film. Aisling registered strongly with me in ‘The Fall’ and it was a coincidence that she had been cast in ‘Jimmy’s Hall’.”

Sam will next appear in action flick ‘Monsters: The Dark Continent’ and starred in Ron Howard’s new movie Heart of the Sea
