Keanu Reeves is set to return to the world of The Matrix with a fourth movie now officially confirmed.

20 years since the original movie was released, the creator of the franchise Lana Wachowski has revealed a fourth film is going into production in 2020.

“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” Wachowski said in a statement. “I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends.”

Keanu is back with his infamous costar Carrie-Ann Moss.

The original Matrix told the story of hacker Neo and his discovery that the world was in fact a simulated reality.

The script is co-written by Wachowski alongside the sci-fi novelists Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

The first movie made more than $460m worldwide. With The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions coming next, the franchise combined has made more than $1.6bn.

On episode 31 of The Gosscast, Goss.ie Founder Ali Ryan sits down with RTE star Stephen Byrne.

From reporting from the red carpet at the Oscars to interviewing stars like Oprah, Stephen talks through the highs and lows of his career so far.
