Taylor Swift demanding money from songwriters who tried to sue her

Last year, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler failed to sue Taylor Swift over claims that she copied one of their songs.

The Judge ruled that,”In order for such short phrases to be protected under the Copyright Act, they must be more creative than the lyrics at issue here.”

Now the famous singer is asking the court to make Sean Hall and Nathan Butler pay her $72,276.

This amount is what Taylor paid out in legal fees when she fought the lawsuit against her.

Sean Hall and Nathan Butler claimed Taylor lifted their material from the 2001 song Playas Gon’ Play for her 2014 hit Shake It Off without compensating them.

At the time, Taylor’s spokesperson said that “Hall and Butler’s suit was a ridiculous claim and nothing more than a money grab.”

According to TMZ, songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler lyrics read, “Playas, they gonna play/ And haters, they gonna hate/ Ballers, they gonna ball/ Shot callers, they gonna call”

Taylor’s Shake It Off lyrics included, “Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play/ And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off”.
