Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo opens up about why he wore Converse to the Emmys

Stranger Things star, Gaten Matarazzo, has opened up about why he wore Converse to the Emmys.

The 16-year-old sported a dashing mustard blazer with printed trousers and navy runners.

The actor decided to make his ensemble meaningful as his Converse weren’t just ordinary runners, but instead were designed to raise awareness for cleidocranial dysplasia.

The actor designed the shoes for the special night, as he added in the logo for charity, CCD Smiles, on the side of the Converse.

Gaten suffers from the rare disorder, which can have a harmful impact on facial growth, as well as affecting the growth of bones, the skull and teeth.

The young actor has been very open about his experience with cleidocranial dysplasia and recently revealed that he was born without collarbones due to the disorder.

“That is the logo and name of my charity organisation that helps people with cleidocranial dysplasia. The organisation is to help people who can’t afford the medical procedures they need to be done because of the condition,” the actor told Today, as he explained the meaning behind his personalised Converse.
