Serena Williams’ team ‘worried’ about Meghan Markle’s presence at US Open women’s final

The Duchess will reportedly attend the final match in New York today

Serena Williams’ team are reportedly “worried” that Meghan Markle’s presence at the US Open final on Saturday could distract from the game.

According to Page Six, the Duchess of Sussex will attend the match in New York today to support her longtime friend – who is up against Bianca Andreescu.

A source said: “Serena asked her coach about Meghan coming and everyone is worried, as tennis players are very superstitious, and Serena lost when Meghan came to watch her at Wimbledon.”

“[Williams’ coach] Patrick keeps telling her, ‘Focus focus focus.’ The aim is getting her to win her 24th Grand Slam.”

A separate source said: “Serena adores Meghan and she’s so excited about her coming to the Open.”

It’s believed Meghan’s trip to NYC was only planned a couple of days ago, and her trip stateside will come amid controversy.

The former actress and her husband Prince Harry recently came under fire for taking a private jet to France last month.

Royal critics slammed the pair for using a private jet, as they have both spoken out about climate change and protecting our environment.

However, the pair’s close friend Elton John later revealed that they flew on his own private jet – and he made sure their flight was carbon neutral by making an “appropriate contribution” to Carbon Footprint™.
