The cast of Riverdale will be paying tribute to the late actor Luke Perry in the upcoming season.
Riverdale’s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that the tribute episode to the actor, featuring Shannen Doherty, is ‘beautiful.’
Luke Perry played the role of Fred Andrews on the series before he died following a stroke in March of this year.
“I think it’s a real tribute to Luke” he told E! at the 2019 Television Critics Association summer press tour.
“I think it’s a real tribute to Fred. I think it’s very cathartic to watch it and I think everyone really came together, specifically to tell this kind of story, the honor Luke and honor Fred…”
“It’s a really simple—it’s just beautiful.”
Shannen was drafted in to act in the episode to pay further tribute to the late actor, after they acted together in iconic series 90210.
”I am deeply honored to pay tribute to Luke on Riverdale,” she wrote on her Instagram to confirm the news.
