Ricky Gervais will host the Annual Golden Globe Awards ‘for the last time’

Comedian Ricky Gervais is set to host the 77th Annual Golden Globes Awards – however, he says it will be his last time taking the hosting helm.

The star has already hosted the show four times, making this his fifth.

“Once again, they’ve made me an offer I can’t refuse,” he joked as the news was announced.

“But this is the very last time I’m doing this, which could make for a fun evening.”

The awards kick off at 8pm on January 5th, 2020, marking the beginning of the awards season.

“There is always a palpable electricity in the room when Ricky takes the Globes stage,” said Paul Telegdy, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.

“His return as master of ceremonies at the Golden Globes is much anticipated.”

“It is sure to make for an unexpected evening. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve.”

Ricky hosted the show in 2010, 2011 and 2012, before handing the reigns over to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. He then returned as host for 2016.
