The Playboy Mansion is one of the most well-known homes in Los Angeles, famed for the lavish parties that have taken place inside its walls over the years.

And LAGoss.com got the chance to go inside the mansion to celebrate Amazon Prime’s new series American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story.

A party at the Playboy mansion is exactly as you’d expect it to be in many ways: fun, glamorous and full of gorgeous women – although wearing considerably more clothing than the Playboy name is known for.

Cocktails called The Centerfold and Mr. Playboy were flowing, tables were decorated with vintage Playboy magazines, and girls in bunny suits cuddled up for photos on the iconic Black Lawn.

We were greeted by two Playboy bunnies at the entrance, and taken inside the mansion’s wood-carved lobby that is decorated with vintage furniture and framed paintings of Hugh on the walls.

Guests were given whiskey, candy and popcorn before a screening of American Playboy in the same room where Hugh Hefner has his weekly movie nights.

After getting to watch the exciting new show – which follows the life of Hugh Hefner and is part drama, part documentary – the celebration continued outside.

Party-goers enjoyed the photo booth and danced to classic pop songs being spun by a DJ, while others mingled by the bar or lounged on luxurious leather sofas.

The grounds include an aviary, where guests posed with parrots and cockatoos on their shoulders, and a zoo with several monkeys.

There’s also a koi pond, large swimming pool with a waterfall and of course the infamous grotto – which was full of excited guests taking photos.

The house appears to have remained unchanged over the past several decades, retaining all the glamour of Old Hollywood and Hugh Hefner’s heyday.

It’s not hard to see why a visit to the Playboy mansion is one of the most exclusive and sought-after invitations in Los Angeles, and with Hef’s son Cooper now at the helm, it’s clear the Playboy name and legend will live on for many more decades to come.

American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story premieres on Amazon Prime on April 7th.
