Pete Davidson addresses ‘suicidal’ Instagram post during SNL segment

Pete Davidson has addressed his “suicidal” Instagram post during a segment on Saturday Night Live.

The comedian returned to his ‘Weekend Update’ slot on the sketch show last night and joked about his social media post from December.

The 25-year-old was joined by comedian, John Mulaney, for the slot, as they briefly spoke about Pete’s Instagram post.

“But for real, I’ve been spending a lot of time with Pete to show him that you can have a life in comedy that’s not insane, a sober domestic life,” John said.

“And after observing John’s life I publicly threatened suicide,” Pete added, before he apologised for joking about the situation.

“I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t make that joke…it is funny,” he continued.

John went on to say “Look me in the eye. You are loved by many and we are glad you are okay,” before they continued a skit about Clint Eastwood’s film, The Mule.

Pete shared a worrying post on Instagram last month, in which he said: “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. i’m doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don’t know how much longer i can last. all i’ve ever tried to do was help people. just remember i told you so.”

The comedian deleted the post shortly after sharing it and briefly appeared on SNL later that evening.
