Pepsi pulls Kendall Jenner ad after HUGE backlash

Pepsi has apologised after its latest commercial caused an uproar.

The advert, featuring Kendall Jenner, has been pulled after social media users accused the company of trivialising police brutality protests and movements such as Black Lives Matter.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding. Clearly, we missed the mark and apologize,” Pepsi said in a statement.

We missed the mark”: Pepsi’s advert starring Kendall Jenner has been pulled after receiving backlash | Pepsi

“We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout.”

The clip showed Kendall getting distracted by a protest that is heading down the street in front of her photo shoot, pulling off her wig and wiping away her lipstick to join the people marching.

It ended with the model at the front of the demonstration, offering a police officer a can of Pepsi and cheering with the rest of the crowd when he takes a sip.

The commercial was quickly branded as “tone deaf” on social media, and has now been removed from YouTube.
