Nicki Minaj has opened up about a past violent relationship in a new documentary trailer.
The 35-year-old released two emotional teasers from her upcoming Queen documentary where she spoke about her experience with domestic violence.
The rapper opened up about her childhood as she described how she used to try to protect her mother from alleged violent attacks from her father.
Nicki then went on to say: “Maybe some people would describe me as abrasive or bitchy or whatever because I vowed from that age no man would ever abuse me, call out my name or treat me like that.”
“Then all of a sudden, that was my life,” she continued.
The 35-year-old described how her abusive relationship with an unnamed former partner made her unmotivated within her career.
“Who was I going to inspire when I had nothing in me to give? I let one human being make me so low, that I didn’t even remember who I was. I was scared to get in the studio. I didn’t believe in myself,” Nicki said.
The rapper then explained that when she moved to Miami and later to New York, that she found her inspiration and love for making music again.
Meanwhile, fans were shocked when Nicki’s ex-boyfriend, Meek Mill, posted a quote shortly after the Queen teaser was released, which said: “When cornered, they’ll lash out by claiming that THEY are the real victim.”
“Their story will detail your drinking problem, depression, low-self-esteem, financial woes, etc., thereby gaining the sympathy of their fan club,” the quote continued.
“Meanwhile, YOU will be isolated & confused while this aggressive campaign transpires. And when you emerge, the trap will have been set,” it concluded as Meek captioned the image “lol.”

Fans have speculated that Meek’s tweet was a reply to Nicki’s teaser trailer regarding past violent relationship.
There has been no release date set for Queen yet, but Nicki told fans that it is “coming soon.”
