Dirty John is set to return for a second series, after receiving rave reviews online.
Based on a popular true crime podcast, the first series followed con artist and sociopath John Meehan (Eric Bana) as he pulls Debra Newell (Connie Britton) into a sinister game of psychological manipulation.
According to Deadline, Netflix have now ordered a second season of the show, but with “a new cast and a different and self-contained story.”

The new series will be produced by Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen and Alexandra Cunningham – who produced Desperate Housewives.
It has also been announced that Netflix will produce a docu-series about the real John Meehan, exploring his life from his victims perspective.
The new series will include interviews with the people who were involved in the case, in the style of Netflix’s other recent hit Abducted in Plain Sight.
