Miley Cyrus has admitted that splitting from Liam Hemsworth in 2013 was the right thing for them.
The 24-year-old former Disney star started dating 27-year-old Hemsworth after the pair starred in The Last Song back in 2010.
The pair got engaged but later called it off. However, after a three year split – the pair rekindled their romance last year
She told radio station SiriusXM, “I know that everything is happening for the right reason. I knew that when we weren’t together the first time.”
Miley revealed that splitting from the Australian actor was a good thing, admitting that she has matured over the last few years.
“I didn’t know if that was the end of it or knew if we’d be back together again, but knew that wherever I was going was on the right path.”
”People that break up and get back together, I think that’s awesome because you know it’s true, but also you get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up.”
She stated that the split allowed them to become “solid” on their own and now they get to be “two really grounded people. It’s not a half and a half making a whole.”
Miley’s new song Malibu is about reconnecting with Liam.
“You brought me here and I’m happy that you did, ’cause now I’m as free as birds catching the wind.”
The couple now seem stronger than ever, and Liam even shot the cover art for his fiancé’s new album.
