Michael Jackson to be celebrated in biographical Broadway show

The show will detail the late singer's incredible life

The Michael Jackson estate and Columbia Live Stage have announced that a musical based on the singer’s life is now in progress.

The show is set to debut in 2020, and will detail the late singer’s life.

The stage production will be penned by respected playwright Lynn Nottage, and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon – the artistic associate of the Royal Ballet in London.

Lynn Nottage won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2009 for her work on Ruined, and in 2017 for Sweat.

Meanwhile, choreographer Christopher Wheeldon won a Tony Award in 2015 for An American in Paris.

The songs featured in the dramatization will include those from Jackson’s early days in the Jackson 5, to his much later solo hits such as Thriller and Bad.

The musical is currently untitled, and it is unclear if it will include the controversial 2005 trial surrounding sexual abuse allegations against him.

Thriller Live has been playing in London’s West End since 2009, so a Broadway show about the singer has the potential to be a smash hit.
