Mark Hamill has paid tribute to his late co-star Carrie Fisher, on the first anniversary of her death

The actress sadly passed away on December 27 last year, aged 60, after suffering a heart attack.

Using a poignant quote from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which was Carrie’s final film in the franchise, Mark wrote on Instagram, “No one’s ever really gone…”

The actor added hashtags #AlwaysWithUs and #CarrieOnForever, alongside a collage of pictures of himself and Carrie.

In The Last Jedi, Mark’s character Luke Skywalker tells his sister Leia, played by Carrie, that “no one’s ever really gone” as they said goodbye.

Mark and Carrie were close friends, and starred in the original three Star Wars films together in the 1970s and 1980s.

They later reunited for 2015’s The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi, which was released this year.
