Mariah Carey has confirmed that she will return to ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest’ – despite last year’s disaster performance.

The singer’s live performance in Times Square on New Year’s Eve 2016 was ruined due to a number of technical issues during the live television show.

Mariah appeared visibly upset during the performance, and even stopped singing at some points, despite the fact that a pre-recorded track was playing in the background.

The unfortunate performance went viral, which led to Mariah poking fun at herself by posting a meme on social media alongside the caption, “s**t happens”.

The entire fiasco led to a very public spat between Mariah and Dick Clark Productions – Mariah’s camp initially claimed that she was sabotaged with technical glitches, while Dick Clark Productions claimed that Mariah hadn’t rehearsed enough.

However, a joint statement released to the Associated Press reads, “We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!”

Mariah will also be joined by Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas and Sugarland for the NYE special.
