Madonna granted permission to adopt twin girls from Malawi

Madonna has been granted permission to adopt twins, Esther and Stella, from Malawi.

The superstar has been granted an adoption order by the Malawi High Court for the four-year-olds.

The 58-year-old will be under observation by the court for a year before the adoption process is finalised, and a home study must be submitted to authorities.

This is not the first time the Like A Virgin singer has adopted from Malawi, as in 2006 and 2009 she adopted David Banda and Mercy James.

The court proceedings took place in Judge Fiona Mwale’s chambers, but no media was allowed inside while the hearing took place.

Malawi has a special place in Madonna’s heart. In 2006 she founded the charity Raising Malawi, in order to address the poverty endured by the country’s orphans.

A source told The Mirror, “Madonna has a deep affiliation with Malawi and has always wanted to do what she can to help those in need.

“Not only does she oversee her charity she is determined to try and give it’s children a better life.”
