Kylie Jenner is facing serious backlash, after she threw a Handmaid’s Tale themed party over the weekend.
The reality star organised the party for her friend Anastasia Karanikolaou’s birthday, as they celebrated the return of the hit Hulu series.
In videos posted on social media, Kylie and her friends dressed up in red cloaks and white bonnets, and sipped on special cocktails named Praise Be Vodka and Under His Eye Tequila.
The mother-of-one welcomed partygoers by saying: “Praise be, ladies. Welcome, welcome. You know The Handmaid’s Tale is my favourite show ever… welcome to Gilead.”

While Kylie and her friends seemed to enjoy the themed bash, because they’re huge fans of the show, many were left horrified by Kylie’s ignorance.
The show, which is based on Margaret Atwood’s book, is set in a dystopian future where fertile women are held as slaves and raped by their masters, in order to bear children for the infertile upper class women.
Reacting to Kylie’s party, one person tweeted: “With all of the serious reproductive rights fights that are going on, Kylie Jenner gave a ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ themed birthday. This entire family is tone-deaf due to privilege, and don’t you forget it.”
Another wrote: “Kylie Jenner throwing a Handmaid’s Tale themed bday party is top-tier ignorance and privilege.”

A third person tweeted: “Kylie Jenner threw a Handmaid’s Tale themed birthday party. Because nothing says ‘fun’ like dressing up as women who are habitually raped and denied basic human rights.”
Another disgusted fan wrote: “Honestly, f**k Kylie Jenner and her Handmaid’s Tale themed party. For real. That is some serious meta dystopian s**t and I am NOT HERE FOR IT. F**k.”
