Kim Kardashian to pay five years rent for former prisoner after he was granted clemency

Kim Kardashian has promised to pay five years of rent for a former prisoner after he was granted clemency.

Matthew Charles was reportedly denied housing after being released from jail and the mother-of-three has agreed to help him out financially for the next five years.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, Matthew was originally sentenced to 35 years in jail in 1996 for drug trafficking charges.

He was released for a short amount of time in 2016 under the the Fair Sentencing Act, but was ordered to return to prison in 2018, before the First Step Act allowed Matthew’s sentence to be reconsidered again.

Matthew was released from prison at the beginning of January, but his housing application was reportedly denied earlier this month due to his past offence.

He took to Facebook to reveal that Kim is paying his rent for the next five years and wrote: “I just received the most wonderful news tonight that I just had to share with everyone. Kim Kardashian-West, through Tracy, said they heard about my situation. Was moved and has decided to help me.”

“And to me in an unbelievable way. Kim did not do this for attention or publicity, but I had to share it, because it’s to (sic) good not to, and my heart is about to burst with happiness, that I wish you to rejoice in this news with me.”

According to Us Weekly, Matthew plans to save for a house while the 38-year-old pays his rent.
