Kim Kardashian asks fans to help find accommodation for reformed criminal Matthew Charles

Kim Kardashian has asked her fans to help find accommodation for reformed criminal Matthew Charles.

Matthew was released from prison back in January, after serving 20 years of his 35-year sentence for a nonviolent drug offence.

But sadly, Matthew has been struggling to find a new home since being released from prison, despite the fact that Kim has agreed to pay his rent for the next five years.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram, Kim told her fans, “Matthew Charles’s lease application was rejected again bc of his criminal record (even w me paying his rent in advance).”

Charles was one of the first people released from prison under the First Step Act, a bill which aims to reduce mandatory minimum prison sentences and reintegrate inmates into society.

The bill was passed after Kim famously met with US President Donald Trump last May, to discuss pardoning 63-year-old Alice Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a first-time nonviolent drug offence.

Kim’s meeting with Trump was successful, and Alice was released from prison just a few days later, after being granted clemency.

After helping Alice, the reality star revealed her hopes to work on other similar cases.

She said: “It’s a longer-term mission for me. I never started out thinking I was being political. I just thought I was helping people and I knew that I had the opportunity or the resources, so I used them and, you know, it worked out really well for Alice.”

“I definitely saw a lot of compassion from the White House with her and I really do believe it’s just the beginning.”
