Kanye West and Kim Kardashian criticised for meeting with Uganda’s President

The couple are facing backlash once again

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have been criticised for meeting with the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni.

The pair have been in Uganda since Friday, as Kanye is reportedly filming a music video there, and finishing his upcoming album ‘Yandhi’.

On Monday, the famous couple met with Museveni, and Kanye even gifted him a pair of Yeezys – however, their meeting has caused serious backlash due to the President’s controversial views.

Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness tweeted, “Hopefully Kim & Kanye are in Uganda advocating for its LGBTQ citizens who face a government that has one of the worst records on LGBT rights & safety anywhere in the WORLD, giving President Museveni a pair of shoes, while he advocates for gay men to be burned in public.”

Museveni has been president since 1986, and in 2014, he pushed through Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, which would make homosexuality punishable by life imprisonment.

Just a few months later, Uganda’s Constitutional Court invalidated the law, but gay people still face serious discrimination in Uganda.

The news comes after Kanye was criticised for meeting with Us President Donald Trump at the Oval Office last week.
