Jussie Smollett’s case ‘to go before grand jury’ after police department reveal ‘trajectory of the investigation’ has changed

Jussie Smollett’s case is reportedly going to go before a grand jury after the Chicago Police Department revealed that the “the trajectory of the investigation” has been shifted.

Over the weekend the actor’s attorneys denied claims that Jussie preplanned the attack and said that anyone who made the claims were “lying.”

Their statement came after a source alleged that the Empire star knew the men who attacked him, following the arrest and release of two men last week.

Chief Communications Officer of the Chicago Police Deprtment, Anthony Guglielmi, also released a statement to E! News in which he said: “We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We’ve reached out to the Empirecast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”

TMZ has since reported that Jussie’s case is set to be heard by a grand jury this week.
