Jennifer Lopez reveals she starred in Hustlers ‘for free’

Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she starred in her hit movie Hustlers “for free”.

Hustlers, which was written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, is based on New York magazine’s 2015 article “The Hustlers at Scores” by Jessica Pressler.

The plot follows a crew of strippers in New York City who begin to embezzle money by drugging stock traders and CEOs who visit their club.

The singer starred in the movie as a stripper named Ramona Vega, and also produced the movie alongside Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell.

The movie, which had a budget of $20 million, grossed $148 million at the box office.

Speaking about the movie during an interview with GQ, Jlo said she “did it for free.”

“I didn’t get paid a whole bunch of money for Hustlers,” she admitted.

“I did it for free and produced it. Like Jenny From the Block—I do what I love,” she said, referring to her 2002 hit.

Speaking about how fans responded to the film, the 50-year-old said it became an empowering movement.

“It became a movement. This is our movie, where we run s**t. They know it’s all women producers, woman director, woman writer, all women starring in it.”

“We’ve been watching men take advantage of women in movies for a long time, so it was a fun ride to see the tables turned.”

Jennifer Lopez featured on the cover of GQ magazine as their Icon of the year.
