George Clooney has responded to rumours that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry asked him to be their son’s godfather.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex introduced their son, Archie Harrison, to the world on Wednesday – and rumours were rife that their baby boy would have very famous godparents.

Many believed George was a contender, as he’s a longtime friend of the couple, and he’s defended Meghan numerous times in the press.

However, George has shut down speculation by telling Extra: “Everybody loves their rumours. It’s not true. You don’t want me to be a godparent of anybody.”

“I’m barely a parent at this point. It’s frightening,” he laughed.

Funnily enough, the actor now shares his birthday with Meghan and Harry’s son, who was born on Monday, May 6th.

Joking about sharing his birthday with Archie, George said: “It’s kind of irritating if you think about it. ‘Cause I’ve already had to split it with Orson Welles, Sigmund Freud, and not this comes in. I’m moving down the line very quickly.”
