Emma Stone to star as Cruella De Vil in Disney remake

The actress will be playing one of our favourite Disney villains

Emma Stone has been confirmed to play Cruella de Vil in a live-action Disney remake.

It has been three years since Disney first announced that they were making the film, and now the iconic villain has finally been cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be set in the early 1980s with a ‘punkish vibe’.

The character of Cruella de Vil is from the children’s book, ‘The One Hundred And One Dalmatians’, which was published in 1956, followed by a string of animated films and series.

The first live-action version of the story was released in 1996, in which Glenn Close played Cruella.

Craig Gillespie, who directed Margot Robbie in ‘I, Tonya’, is reportedly in talks to direct the new Cruella live-action.

It’s believed Disney bosses hope to replicate the huge success of Maleficent, which was a spin-off of Sleeping Beauty, and starred Angelina Jolie.
