Disney’s The Lion King live-action remake tops the box office at $185 million

Disney’s new rendition of the classic film The Lion King was a roaring success at the Box Office over the weekend.

The film is a live-action animated remake of the original movie.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film topped the weekend box office with a record $185 million.

The figure surpassed the total gross for the same weekend last year as a stand-alone flick.

The movie features includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa.

It also boasts a brand new soundtrack, with a star-studded line-up.

The film has grossed $531 million globally, after opening on July 19th.
