Demi Lovato has revealed her new tattoo, and it has a very special meaning.
The songstress has been working on herself over the past year, after she suffered a near-fatal drug overdose last July.
Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old showed off the new ink on the ring finger of her left hand.
Demi got the word “Me” tattooed on the lower part of her finger, by popular tattoo artist Winter Stone.
She captioned the post: “Me first ???? thank you @winterstone for my new forever reminder.. #i????me.”
The songstress further explained the meaning behind her new ink on her Instagram Story.
Sharing another photo of the tatt, Demi wrote: “You can’t love anyone unless you love yourself first.”
Demi is currently working on her seventh studio album, which will be completely “open and honest”.
The former Disney star has battled addiction and eating disorders for years, and sadly relapsed last year.
One month after she was hospitalised following a drug overdose, Demi told her fans: “I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time.”
“It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” Lovato wrote. “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well,” she added, before praising her fans for standing by her through the difficult time.”
She added: “I now need time to heal and focus on my sobriety and road to recovery. The love you have all shown me will never be forgotten and I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side. I will keep fighting.”
