The Met Gala red carpet has been responsible for some of the most iconic power couple photos in recent history but alas, not all the pairs who’ve walked it have survived long enough to pose on it together again.
The annual haute couture event takes place tonight.
‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ is the theme for the night but short of a relationship resurrection, or a prodigal boyfriend returning, we won’t see any of these couples worshipping each other, as they have in years previous, as they walk the red carpet.
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid parted ways earlier this year. While some fans are holding out hope for the couple to reunite on the red carpet, we won’t be holding our breath. They looked like young loves dream on the red carpet embracing each other last year in their metallic attire.
Another Hadid who won’t be holding hands with the same man at the Met again is Gigi’s older sister Bella. The Weeknd and Bella Hadid looked striking stepping out in all black for the famous event but their love was not to last.
Selena Gomez and the Weekend’s ten months of dating managed to span a Met Gala but didn’t make it much further than that. The pair parted ways citing work commitments but the pop princess was spotted back with her teenage sweetheart Justin Bieber very shortly after her split. Perhaps that on again off again couple will come through tonight?
FKA Twigs and Robert Pattison were a better love story than Twilight but alas, they have also not survived 2017 to strut into another Met Gala together.
So, as the film is removed from the red carpet and the finishing touches are completed on outfits that cost more than our cars, we wait, with bated breath, to see what couples will slay the style stakes at the Met Gala 2018…
And will they last to walk down the 2019 red carpet? Or the aisle? Or walk their separate ways?
