Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart have officially called it quits, and it turns out their friends weren’t very surprised by their split.
The Riverdale stars, who play onscreen couple Betty and Jughead in the hit CW series, broke up recently after two years of dating.
After their split hit headlines, a source told PEOPLE: “Their friends didn’t really expect them to last in the long-run.”
“At the end of the day, their personalities are very different and their lifestyles often clashed.”
“Things have felt super heavy in the relationship for a while, and it got to be too much. They’re both very professional though and trying to be as amicable and friendly as possible.”
The news of their split broke after the pair put on an amicable display at San Diego Comic-Con last week.
Although the pair seemed friendly, they reportedly kept their distance from one another at Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con party on Saturday.
