A former assistant coach at the University of Southern California has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit racketeering, as part of the ongoing college admissions scandal.
Laura Janke, who worked as an assistant coach for USC’s women’s soccer team, allegedly helped facilitate Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade’s entry into the college.
Prosecutors have reportedly claimed that Laura Janke helped William “Rick” Singer create “falsified profiles” for his clients’ children, in order to get them into college based on their supposed athletic ability.
Laura allegedly received an email from William in July 2017, asking to create a crew profile for Lori’s youngest daughter Olivia Jade.
According to court documents obtained by CNN, Laura replied: “Ok sounds good. Please send me the pertinent information and I will get started.”
Lori and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have been accused of devising a plan to “present their younger daughter, falsely, as a crew coxswain for the L.A. Marina Club team.”
The court documents also claim that once Olivia Jade was accepted to USC as a crew recruit, Lori and Mossimo allegedly paid $50,000 to USC’s senior associate athletic director Donna Heinel.
The couple also allegedly paid $200,000 to William Singer.
Despite claims in court documents, Lori and Mossimo have both pleaded not guilty to the charges they face.
