Chris Martin calmed down fans following a shooting scare at the Global Citizen Festival in New York.
The singer took to the stage after panic ensued at the event when fans thought they heard the sound of gunfire shots.
The 41-year-old reassured fans that they were safe and calmly explained to the crowd that the loud noise was caused due to a barrier that fell down.
“A barrier I think fell down; of course it caused people to be a little frightened and stuff like that, but nobody is trying to hurt anybody. You’re all safe, okay,” the father-of-two told fans as they tried to flee the venue.
“As far as I know, when you guys are all ready, we can watch Janet Jackson which we all f***ing want to do,” he reassured the crowd.
“So, if you’re at the back and you’re worried. Of course everybody’s worried, we all care about people,” he continued, as he asked the assistant chief of the NYPD to join him on-stage.

Chris then handed the microphone over to NYPD Assistant Chief, Kathleen O’Reilly and asked her to reassure everyone that there was nothing to be worried about.
“Everyone relax, calm down, it was a barrier collapse, there were no shots fired. Hopefully the show is going to go on, we just have to reassess the situation and try to create a new safety lane,” she told the crowd.
Hundred of fans were shown making their way back to the stage following the incident and others looked worried as they walked around the venue in confusion.
Chris was praised online for how he took hold of the situation and one fan said: “Excellent job by Chris Martin of @coldplay calming the crowd at the #GlobalCitizen festival and bringing out an @NYPDnews chief.”
