Chester Bennington’s widow has slammed TMZ for the manner in which they reported Avicii’s death.
The 28-year-old DJ died by suicide in Oman last month and TMZ revealed graphic details about his method.
Media guidelines from The Samaritan’s that relate to reporting suicide, advise against using the word “committed”. They also highlight the dangers of reporting specific details of how the deceased took their own life.
Please, please, DO NOT click on the TMZ article or any other about the private details of Avicii’s passing. This is how WE can’t stop #filthytmz https://t.co/WxLyhOEq5Y

Talinda retweeted a post which asked people not to click into articles with graphic details about Avicii’s death and he said, “Please, please, DO NOT click on the TMZ article or any other about the private details of Avicii’s passing. This is how WE can’t stop #filthytmz”
The post she retweeted said, “Your click tells them that you want more articles like these. Your click pays them for violating privacy & grieving space.”
She argued that articles like that steal his family’s grieving space and are dangerous for other people who may be suicidal.
Talinda lost her husband Chester Bennington to suicide last July when he was just 41-years-old.
She does a lot of mental health awareness work now while raising their three children.
