Celebrities call for gun control after Las Vegas Shooting

The shooting claimed 59 lives and injured over 500

After the tragedy of the Las Vegas shooting, celebrities are calling for stricter gun laws in the US as they show support for the victims.

On Sunday night, tragedy struck at a country music festival near the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.

A gunman perched high up on the 32nd floor of a hotel tower rained rapid fire into the crowds, and killed 59 people and injured 527 people.

Since the news broke, celebrities have shown their love and support for the victims and their loved ones, and expressed their opinions on gun control.

Miley Cyrus started off her “Miley Week” on The Tonight Show with a heartfelt duet alongside actor Adam Sandler in honour of the victims.

After Jimmy Fallon paid his condolences to the victims, Miley and Adam performed Dido’s 2013 single ‘No Freedom’.

“No Love without Freedom … No Freedom without LOVE Thank you so much to Adam Sandler for joining me tonight in remembering all those lost, and singing lyrics that I believe are so important at this time,” Miley wrote on Instagram.

Along with The Tonight Show , a number of celebrities took to Twitter to speak out about the gun laws in America.

Lady Gaga wrote, “This is terrorism plain and simple, Terror bares no race, gender or religion. Democrats & Republicans please unite now #guncontrol.”

The 31-year-old singer also directed a tweet at US President Donald Trump about gun control.

Gigi Hadid also shared her opinion on Twitter.

“It sickens me the ease in which a TERRORIST can be sold a GUN. Is the ease really worth all these lives?! This needs to stop.”

Meanwhile Ariana Grande, whose concert in Manchester was the target of a terror attack earlier this year, also shared her thoughts.

“My heart is breaking for Las Vegas,” she wrote. “We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”

Julianne Moore, who has long been an outspoken advocate for gun violence awareness, said, “Today we mourn for Las Vegas, tomorrow we fight for them,” and encouraged everyone to “join the movement to end gun violence.”

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer also posted on her Instagram, writing, “Today we mourn for Las Vegas, tomorrow we fight for them.

“Join the movement to end gun violence: Text ACT to 64433. @everytown”
