Ben Affleck has pledged to donate all residual money from movies he made with The Weinstein Company and Miramax to women’s charities.

Director Kevin Smith was the first to reveal that he would be donating his residual money to non-profit group Women In Films, which supports female filmmakers.

And now, Ben has pledged to do the same, and told Fox 5 reporter Kevin McCarthy,”Once Kevin suggested that, I decided to do the same thing.”

“So I am giving any further residuals that I get from a Miramax or a Weinstein movie… to either [Film Independent] or to RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network).”

“I just didn’t want to cash any more cheques from the guy [Weinstein],” he added.

Ben had worked with Harvey Weinstein for over two decades, going back to 1997 when they worked on Good Will Hunting together.

Back in October, the actor was forced to apologise to actress Hilarie Burton after she spoke of a 2003 incident in which he groped her on the set of MTV TV show TRL.

“I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologise,” he wrote on Twitter.
