Angelina Jolie opens up about her late mother Marcheline Bertrand

Angelina Jolie is discussing her late mother while promoting Mon Guerlain.

The actress is the new face of the fragrance and explained in an interview that she teamed up with the brand because it reminds her of happy memories with Marcheline Bertrand.

“It spoke to her, as it does to me, of beauty, history and quality,” she told Hello!. “It’s the oldest perfume house in the world, from France, a country I love and feel connected to and spend time in.

“As I talked to Guerlain about the artistry they devote to the making of the perfume and the way they work in communities, sourcing their ingredients, the pieces came together and I felt we were a match.”

Opening up: Angelina Jolie remembered her late mother Marcheline Bertrand in an interview to promote Mon Guerlain

Angelina’s mother died aged 56 in 2007 and the star remembers from her childhood that Guerlain powder Ladies in All Climates was one of few beauty products she used.

“My mother was a very natural woman,” she said. “She never spoiled herself, never wore make-up, and wore modest jewellery, but she always had a few special items for when she wanted to feel like a lady.

“One of those special items – and I remember it because it seemed so elegant – was her Guerlain powder. I think it speaks of all women having those few special things that make them feel feminine. And so when I was a little girl, I would associate Guerlain with that.”

This is the first time Angelina has partnered with a beauty brand, and she is donating her entire fee from the campaign to charity.
