Dancing With The Stars kicked off tonight on RTE 1 – and there were some very mixed reactions.
The star-studded line-up includes models Thalia Heffernan, actress Aoibhin Garrihy, Big Brother’s Hughie Maughan, comedian Des Bishop, reporter Teresa Mannion and sports presenter Des Cahill
Also dancing their way to the top are comedian Katherine Lynch, former Operation Transformation doctor Eva Orsmond, Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony and former Hometown star Dayl Cronin.
Glitz and glam: Dancing With The Stars kicked off with a star-studded line-up | RTE
Like with BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, opening night introduced us to the stars competing and their dance partners as they all performed a spectacular group dance.
Eagerly watching at home, many tweeted out what they thought of the show – there was a huge mixed reaction but plenty of hilarious tweets as well.

Like the rest of Ireland, I’m really judgemental of the dancing even though I don’t have a notion. Loving the set, it looks great #DWTSIrl

That opening: Exactly like an Irish wedding… only fancier! And zero fist fights! #DWTSIrl

#DWTSIRL Oh dear, terrible camera work already, looks cheap & timing of dancing was all over the shop. Camera way too close.

Said “who’s that” more times in the opening of this programme than your regular game of thrones episode… #DWTSIrl

The budget for #dwtsirl was so low that Amanda Byram was forced to fashion a garment from the lining of a cow’s stomach!
