Häagen-Dazs has always stood out from other ice cream brands, and after visiting their pop up Ice Cream Academy in London, I know why.
Located in the stunning Bloomsbury Gardens in London, I was invited over to the Häagen-Dazs academy to understand the level of research and development that goes into creating their perfect flavours.
From Salted Caramel, Baileys and my personal favourite Strawberries and Cream, the ice cream company have a huge range of luxury flavours.
Yum: We got a to see Dan make his recipe from scratch
And it’s not just about enjoying the ice cream on it’s own (as much as I love to do). London based chef Dan Doherty was on hand to show us how to make the perfect Häagen-Dazs Peach Melba Float – yes it’s as delicious as it sounds.
Inside our igloo of ice cream Dan created the champagne dessert – which includes Strawberries and Cream ice cream, Rose Champagne, peaches, strawberries and a sprinkle of toasted almonds.
We also learned about what drives our taste buds, and that was an eye opener.
After handing all of the guests some nose plugs (it was worth it) we were asked to taste a spoon full of sugar and vanilla, it wasn’t until our nose plugs were taken off that we could taste the vanilla – proving our sense of smell drives us towards certain ingredients.
Obviously my favourite moment was tucking into the complimentary Strawberries and Cream at the event, and we also got a very useful goodie bag.
I’m awful for cooking and baking but Dan showed us all how easy it is to make a delicious dessert, and I’m going to try out his recipe myself!
Goodies: I got this lovely recipe journal
Inside my goodie bag I got a lovely White Tea candle from True Grace, an egg timer, an ice cream bowl, an ice cream scooper and a handy little recipe journal.
