TV chef Derry Clarke reveals his famous fans

Top cook Derry Clarke has opened up about famous fans of his restaurant.

The Michelin-starred chef, who owns Dublin restaurant l’Ecrivain, revealed a former James Bond star is a supporter of his.

“Recently Pierce Brosnan was in a far bit when he was over. He was in a lot with Anna Friel, she’s lovely,” he said.

Meanwhile, the renowned cook revealed he auditioned for Masterchef Ireland.

Although he didn’t get the job on the now defunct show, the restauteur admitted they were in good hands with presenters Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath

“I did audition for Masterchef but I didn’t get it. A lot of chefs did. To be fair, they got two good presenters [in Nick Munier and Dylan McGrath],” he told Goss.ie.

“There was an audition process for it but [I didn’t get it] and that’s the way it goes .”

The Dubliner has recently opened The Samsung Kitchen at l’Ecrivain – offering a new dining experience that allows diners to watch and learn as their dinner is cooked in front of them.

With room for 20 people at the table, the Samsung Home Appliance brand ambassador admitted it’s great for private functions and parties – revealing he’s even booked the room for himself.

“I’ve actually booked it for a group of friends. I usually have dinner parties at but this is really easy,” he told Goss.ie.

“The Samsung stuff is really great to work with, their technology is so advanced, the ovens almost cook for you.”
