Three Irish acts vying for the Mercury Music Prize

Irish musicians Roisín Murphy, Aphex Twin and SOAK are eyeing up this years award, which is announced tonight.

The three Irish acts are amongst the 12 hopefuls vying to win the Mercury Prize.

The shortlist was announced by DJ Lauren Laverne on her BBC Radio 6 Music show in early October.

All 12 acts up for album of the year will perform at the ceremony at BBC Radio Theatre.

The Irish stars, who are nominated for the award for the first time, also face competition from Jamie xx and Florence + the Machine.

Mercury Prize Live 2015 will air on BBC Four at 9.30pm, with coverage also on BBC Radio 6.
